Billionaire Jeff Bezos has welcomed some of the world’s most high profile celebrities to Venice to attend the “wedding of the century” as he says his vows to Lauren Sanchez. The 55-year-old bride is close friends with Kim Kardashian, who like Jeff has also achieved billionaire status.
She made a grand entrance to the event in a Balenciaga outfit, complete with strapless crop top, while sister Khloe also dressed to impress as she climbed aboard a taxi boat in a leopard print jumpsuit. The pair left Venice’s Marco Polo Airport together with momager Kris Jenner on their way to see the world’s third richest man tie the knot. Kim had previously attended Lauren’s lavish, no expense spared £500,000 hen do in Paris back in May, where she, Katy Perry and a host of other celebs partied the night away.
Tomorrow’s Venetian wedding, in a location often described as the most romantic in Europe, promises to be just as glitzy.
Other very special guests include CBS newsreader Gayle King, who famously joined Lauren on the space-bound Blue Origin flight back in April alongside Katy Perry. and Carole Malone clash over Sicilian food
Alongside her will be US president Donald Trump‘s daughter Ivanka, entrepreneur Bill Gates and actors Leonardo Di Caprio and Eva Longoria.
They join TV talk host Oprah Winfrey, who has also been seen setting off from the airport – and at least 95 private planes have reportedly requested permission to land there ahead of today’s huge event.
The high-profile guestlist comprising of 200 famous faces will gather at the 15th century Madonna dell’Orto church to witness the vows.
They’re then expected to head to the island of San Giovanni Evangelista for a wedding banquet, before returning to the city to conclude the three-day extravaganza with a grand ball at the ancient shipyard, Arsenale.
It replaces original plans to end at the grand canal-side building Scuola Grande della Misericordia, which were reportedly branded “logistically unfeasible” due to security concerns.
Bezos, worth $165 billion (£120 million), has stopped at nothing to guarantee privacy for the big event, and a cover has been installed at the Arsenale amphitheatre to prevent drones from accessing the airspace and snatching photo and video footage.
Jeff and Lauren, as well as their celebrity friends, will be staying at Venice’s most luxurious resort, Aman, throughout, where suites can set guests back by £10,000 a night.
The event will represent a huge pay-out for local businesses, as 80% of wedding provisions were reportedly sourced from within Venice.
Meanwhile native Italian singer Andrea Bocelli’s son Matteo will provide live entertainment at the event.
